College of Science and Engineering

Ref: 005223
Grade 7: £32,267 - £36,298 per annum

The University of Glasgow seeks to make an appointment to pursue a world-class research programme in nuclear and hadron physics, which will strengthen and enhance the work of the Nuclear Physics research group in the School of Physics and Astronomy.

FACULTY POSITION THEORETICAL NUCLEAR PHYSICS

The Department of Physics at Indiana University invites applications for a position in theoretical nuclear physics, subject to funding and approval for appointment beginning Fall 2014. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics or a related field at the time of appointment (August 1st, 2014). Candidates will be evaluated for appointment at the tenure-track assistant professor level at a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Faculty Position in Nuclear Experiment at the University of Illinois

Please see attached for an advertisement of a full time tenure or tenure track faculty position in Experimental Nuclear Physics at the University of
Illinois in Urbana Champaign.

Research scientist position at RIKEN (Spin-Isospin Laboratory)

Spin-Isospin laboratory (Chief scientist: Dr. Tomohiro Uesaka), RIKEN Nishina Center, seeks a candidate to fill a research scientist position (tenure) starting April 2014.

The successful candidate is expected to lead research programs in nuclear physics and studies of r-process nucleosynthesis at RI Beam Factory, RIKEN.

Deadline for the application is 17:00 (JST), 31st October, 2013.

Post doc position at the UWC

Please find attached an announcement regarding a postdoctoral fellowship available at the University of Western Cape. We would appreciate it greatly if you forward this to interested candidates.

Thank you.

EMMI program on "Halo Physics at the Neutron Drip Line"

We would like to announce the EMMI program "Halo Physics at the Neutron Drip Line" to be held at the GSI in Darmstadt,
Germany Jan 27 - Feb 21, 2014.

The aim of the program is to bring together experimentalists, that are interested in these exotic systems, with theorists working on the
description of threshold features in nuclei along the drip lines.

In particular we will try to address

INFN Postdoctoral Fellowships for Foreign Researchers

INFN has just opened a call for 16 2-years postdoc positions in experimental nuclear&particle physics reserved to non-Italian citizens; the deadline for the presentation of applications is mid November.

The only requirement needed for applicants is to have obtained a PhD less than 8 years ago. People who are preparing their thesis are also
eligible to apply but they need to obtain their PhD before starting the fellowship.

Since there will be (many) more applicants than positions, a committee will later select the "best" candidates.

Nuclear Talent Courses - INT Seattle

Dear all (some of you may receive/have received this message more than once), happy new year first of all.
We wanted to let you know that the Nuclear Talent initiative will this year run two courses (www.nucleartalent.org). These are

11th IGISOL Workshop

Dear Colleagues,

The 11th IGISOL Workshop (Conference on Stopping and Manipulation of Ions, SMI-13) will be organized in Jyväskylä 11-13 June 2013.

The scope of these meetings has been in the development of the techniques related to the stopping of energetic ions in noble gases and the use of noble gases to manipulate ions and atoms. Since this work has mostly taken place in connection with research of exotic nuclei, reporting of related nuclear physics studies has been an important aspect of the workshops.
